For Tom, helping people is what makes being an attorney an attractive profession. He has worked under long-time Bloomington, Minnesota attorney Conrad Carr now retired, where he learned the importance of providing good legal service at a fair price. Tom’s work focused on providing help in the areas of Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts, Probate, Real Estate, and General Civil Litigation. Tom also has experience from over 20 years of being a Lawyer, and from running his own small business.

In the case of Cecilia Lynch v. Frank Hetman, Tom was the lead attorney who helped an elderly widow collect $500k from a debtor, who had a number of other creditors pursuing him. Tom was able to discover the location of the debtor’s only unsecured asset, a controlling block of shares in a metal extruding business. After forcing the sale of these shares, his client was able to receive full payment of her claim.

Tom started his legal career as one of two Minnesota Plaintiff’s attorneys litigating in the field of filed tariffs with the Interstate Commerce Commission in the area of interstate transportation. Tom was the first attorney in the nation to challenge the ICC’s controversial position on transportation contracts before the Federal Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Tom has helped many people with their estate planning, with an eye toward avoiding the time and expense of Probate. He is able to look at the different ways to determine what is best needed for his client’s estate planning needs. His experience in different areas of the law, allows him greater understand how best to counsel a client and meet the client’s objectives.
